Wife and Husband Charged in Conspiracy to Steal GM Trade Secrets

United States — Two people were charged in federal court Thursday for their roles in a conspiracy to steal General Motors' trade secrets related to hybrid vehicles.
Charged in the indictment are Shanshan Du, aka Shannon Du, 51, a former employee of GM, and her husband Yu Qin, aka Yu Chin, 49.
According to the indictment, Du stole the GM trade secrets for the benefit of a company she and her husband owned, and which started a business venture to provide hybrid vehicle technology to Chery Automobile, a Chinese automotive manufacturer based in China.
