PRIVACY POLICY
Introduction At PlanetData, LLC ("PlanetData") respecting your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy describes our information collection, use and disclosure practices. Click here for a list of the PlanetData websites (referred to collectively as the "Sites") that are governed by this privacy policy. References to the "Sites" shall mean both the singular and plural of this term. References to "we", "us", or "our" shall mean PlanetData. Information Collection When users visit the Sites, they are anonymous unless they choose to provide PlanetData with personally identifiable information. How we collect information: We collect information from users at the time of registration, through optional polls and surveys, and when users request specific products or services from us. We also collect non-personally identifiable aggregate information from log files. What information we collect: If a user chooses to register with PlanetData, he or she will be asked to provide contact information, such as name, email address, and state and/or country of residence. At the time of registration a user will have the option to provide demographic information, such as address and profession. We encourage users to provide this information so that we can enhance their experiences on the Sites. Information Use We use the information we collect about users to analyze Site usage, to enhance and personalize Site experience, to improve Site content and design, and to offer requested products, programs or services (e.g., newsletters, news alerts). In order to access certain Site features or functionality, user registration may be required. Users who elect to register will receive service related announcements via email when PlanetData deems it necessary to do so, for example, if service to a Site is temporarily suspended. Generally, users may not opt out of these announcements. However, if a user does not wish to receive these service announcements, his or her registration must be terminated. See Terms of Use for further information on how to terminate a registration. Information Sharing and Disclosure Third Parties PlanetData may disclose non-personally identifiable aggregate information in order to enhance users' experiences on the Sites and to offer products, programs, and services. For example, we may share aggregate survey results with our registered users or with current or prospective advertisers on the Sites. PlanetData's agents and contractors who have access to personally identifiable information are required to protect this information in a manner that is consistent with this privacy policy, and may not use this information for any purpose other than to provide services on our behalf. Legal We may disclose personally identifiable information as required by law, to comply with a judicial proceeding or court order, or in response to a subpoena or legal process. We may also disclose personally identifiable information when we believe it is necessary to protect our rights, or to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or violations of our Terms of Use. Interactive Features We offer optional interactive features, such as online discussion groups, on some of the Sites. When technically feasible and subject to our Terms of Use, PlanetData may permit users to anonymously post or send information to a Site. Note that all information users choose to send or post to a Site, including personally identifiable information, becomes public information for which PlanetData is not responsible. Cookies PlanetData uses "cookies" to enhance user experience on the Sites. Cookies are text files we send to a web browser that are stored on a user's computer hard drive. Cookies, by themselves, do not tell us personally identifiable information unless a user chooses to provide us with this information, for example at registration. We use cookies to help us understand and analyze Site usage, improve Site content and offerings, and to enable access to certain Site features and functionality. At any time, users may delete or block cookies from being accepted and stored by a browser. However, disabling cookies may result in certain Site features or functionality to work improperly or not at all. Third Party Advertisers The Sites may contain advertisements by third parties. These third party advertisers may place or recognize unique cookies on a user's browser. As with other cookies, users may block or delete third party cookies from the user's computer. The use of cookies by a third party advertiser is subject to the third party's privacy policy, and is not covered under this policy. PlanetData has no control over cookies placed by third party advertisers. Links to Other Sites The Sites may display links to third party web sites that are not owned or controlled by PlanetData. The information practices of these third parties may be different than ours. PlanetData is not responsible for, and has no control over the privacy practices or content of these third party sites. We encourage users to be aware when they leave any of the Sites and to read the privacy policies of any web site they may visit. "Opt-in"/"Opt-out" In order to receive PlanetData news alerts, newsletters, or other non-service related PlanetData information, users must "opt-in" (e.g. at registration, or when a user updates his or her user profile). At any time, users can opt out of receiving non-service related PlanetData communications by following the instructions in the communication or by updating their user profile page. Access and Correction On some of the Sites, registered users may view their personal information on a user profile page and, when technically feasible, may correct or update their personal information. When such changes are not technically feasible, PlanetData will make reasonable efforts to assist registered users in updating their personal information.
